Is this menopause?
There is no definitive moment when menopause occurs other than the cessation of your menstrual cycle, but as many of us know, the symptoms can creep up on us much earlier and the best indicator of change is your sense of wellbeing.
Women’s intuition is a powerful tool that we really should listen to more often. It is a sense of knowing that gifts women with the ability to tap into their emotional and physical health and recognise when something isn’t quite right.
How many times have you been told that there is nothing wrong with you, or its all in your head? Sadly, women are still treated quite dismissively when nothing definitive show up in blood tests, and that is the moment we need to find our inner strength and continue our search for answers until we find them.
Blood tests are great for setting your baseline and can recognise inconsistencies when performed on a regular basis. However, when it comes to hormones, we know that saliva testing can be such an important marker for hormone imbalances and the delicate dance they perform.
It also gives us a sense of relief that there is something physical going on and we are not going crazy. Once the imbalance is identified, it’s then the role of your practitioner to guide you through some protocols that will help ease your symptoms and educate you about the holistic approach required to manage the menopause journey ahead.
You may be prescribed specific supplements, herbs or vitamins, and there will more than likely be a discussion about nutrition, stress, exercise, and lifestyle factors that can influence the changes you are feeling. Supplements can only do so much, so it is important that you understand how your body and metabolism is changing and what adjustments you will need to make.
For some women this will be a wakeup call to finally do something about their health, while for others it will be a gentle reminder to tweak their routine and maybe up the anti when it comes to dietary and exercise changes.
This is an opportunity to make sure your health is the best it can be, to ensure the many years ahead can be lived with energy and vitality, so don’t wait another minute putting up with not feeling your best. And don’t stop searching for answers when you know something is not right. Never doubt your intuition and the power you have to make sure you are living your best life!
